🔵 When Hatred Becomes a Weapon: The Murderous “Kill List” Targeting Israeli Scientists
There are moments when the world briefly comes to a standstill because an abyss becomes visible—one that many have ignored for a long time. That is exactly what is happening now. An anonymous website that calls itself “The Punishment for Justice Movement” has not merely crossed the limits of what can be said, endured, and considered human—it has burned them behind it. There, lists of Israeli and Jewish scientists’ names were published, accompanied by photos, private addresses, telephone numbers, email contacts—and bounty offers for their murder.
According to several media reports, the site lists bounties of up to $100,000 for certain targets, $50,000 for others, around $20,000 for arson attacks and lower four-figure sums for intimidation campaigns and the collection of additional information.
This is not anonymous anger on social media, not an activist who has gone off the rails, and not a radical call from a heated demonstration. It is a professionally established platform that, by its own account, systematically brings together data, incentives, and calls for violence against civilians.
An Escalating Development No One Can Ignore Anymore
What is becoming visible here is neither an isolated incident nor a surprise to those who have closely followed developments over the past year. At pro-Palestinian rallies in numerous Western cities, slogans have been chanted that were once regarded as extremist ideas but are now tolerated—or even applauded—in the open street.
Jewish and Israeli students have been intimidated at universities; boycotts and social ostracism have become part of everyday life. The boundary between criticism of a government and the collective demonization of an entire people has not merely become blurred—it has been almost completely erased.
The murder list now published fits into a climate in which Israeli and Jewish people have increasingly been dehumanized.
The Targets: Scientists, Researchers—People in Civilian Life
Those affected are not generals, politicians, or military commanders. They are:
-
university presidents
-
female physicists
-
female researchers at the Weizmann Institute
-
academics at Ben-Gurion University
-
professors at the Hebrew University, Technion, and Tel Aviv University
-
even international scientists, including from Harvard, Oxford, and CERN.
Some do not even live in Israel, but in the United States, the United Kingdom, or other Western countries.
The website claims that these people “developed weapons for the IDF,” “committed crimes against Palestinian children,” or are “collaborators of the occupation army.” These accusations correspond to typical propagandistic conspiracy narratives; according to publicly available reporting to date, there is no reliable evidence for them. Some of those affected do not even work in the military field.
Bounties, Threats, Calls for International Violence
The website openly calls for the following crimes—linked to graduated cash rewards:
-
Murder of the scientists ($50,000–$100,000)
-
Arson attacks on vehicles or homes ($20,000)
-
Surveillance and acquisition of private data ($5,000)
-
Intimidation campaigns outside residences ($1,000)
At the same time, the group invites “all unofficial armed groups and fighters” worldwide to join the mission.
Israeli security authorities, including Mossad and Shin Bet, have launched an immediate investigation. Universities in Israel are also warning their employees and students, particularly when traveling abroad.
According to media reports, security circles are examining possible Iranian involvement, but so far are explicitly speaking only of a suspicion, not confirmed responsibility.
A Digital Continuation of Old Patterns
The mechanism is historically familiar:
Dehumanization – demonization – calls for violence – physical attacks.
It has worked for centuries, in different countries and against different minorities. What is new is how professionally and globally interconnected such structures operate digitally today.
The website was temporarily deactivated but reappeared later. According to media reports, the site uses technical concealment methods such as VPN services and encrypted communication. Some reports assume that the infrastructure is located in a Western country—presumably in Europe, possibly in the Netherlands—but this has not yet been established.
Voices of Those Affected
The reactions range from concern to bitter irony:
-
Daniel Chamovitz, president of Ben-Gurion University, said he was particularly “concerned about the extremist discourse that legitimizes violence” and expressed confidence in the authorities.
-
Other academics say that shutting down the site is only a symptom, not the solution.
“We are walking around with targets on our heads; this also endangers our families.” -
An Oxford professor responded sarcastically that he was “offended that his life had been valued so cheaply.”
But humor is only a thin protective shell here. The scale of the threat is real.
An Attack on Science, Freedom, and Democracy
This incident affects far more than those directly targeted. It is an attack on:
-
academic freedom
-
the security of Jewish communities worldwide
-
the fundamental values of democratic societies
-
the right to live without fear
The perpetrators’ message is clear: Anyone who is Jewish or works for an Israeli institution may be regarded as a “legitimate target” anywhere in the world.
That must alarm every democratic society.
A Clear Boundary—and a Clear Mandate
We are witnessing words becoming weapons, political slogans mutating into fantasies of violence, and digital hate campaigns turning into real calls for murder.
This is a turning point. Anyone who remains silent now makes themselves complicit in the normalization of lethal hatred of Jews. What is needed are clear responses, legal action, international investigations, and a societal stance that does not relativize this escalation.
This is not about Israeli policy. Not about Gaza. Not about criticism.
It is about the fundamental right to live as a human being without being declared a target.
We face a simple question—one that permits no evasions:
Are we willing to accept that the murder of Jews and Israelis is once again being organized openly?
The answer must not be quiet. And it must not wait until the first bounty is claimed.
